I am also a craft artist--I make purses from recycled clothing (www.megexpressions.com) and it IS hard to convince people that my medium is art, and is comparable to, say watercolor or collage. However, here in Portland, where I live, we actually have a Museum for Contemporary Craft, so it is nice to see that the craft medium is receiving some of the attention that it deserves!!
